"I wanted a school that was neurodiverse and built on the idea that any child can learn to play music. I had spent so much time watching people dumb down the joy of music, frustrating the student. We have to step outside the traditions of music instruction, and bend the rules. Presuming competence is at the heart of everything I do. I believe every student is capable of learning music, and so I teach, and re-teach, break rules, and turn ideas upside down until the student makes progress. It is hard work, for both the student and me, but it is wildly rewarding. Watching students grasp a concept gives me unending joy. But I can't teach every student in the world. So, I thought about making my ideas more accessible to more people by using the internet to teach. I am training students all over the country, and now I have schools and teachers reaching out to me wanting to learn how to reach students with disabilities. I think it is fantastic!" - Laura
No one should remain a song unsung.
Enlightened Audio, LLC is an innovative music education concept working to make music available to all students, no matter their geographic location or their disability. Every human should have access to the the tools and teachers to bring the experience of music education to their hearts. That is why this start up is filing to be B-Corp certified. We want to build a music education business that puts instruments in the hands of children who cannot afford instruments, establish learning stations in public libraries, and teach music programs around the world how to make room for students with disabilities. We are starting with string instruments, but the dream is to one day include all instruments. Presuming competence is at the heart of Enlightened Audio. We truly believe anyone can learn to play music, and we are willing to do everything we can to make accommodations for any type of disability. You can hear Laura talk about this concept.

Every student who enrolls or buys an instrument helps another student gain access to quality music instruction. Note4Note is a program that is still growing! Ten-percent of all sales go to providing lessons for students in need. For every Stefanie model violin purchased, a violin will be given to a student in need. Each student who receives a free instrument will also have access to free classes so they can learn to play. Currently, I am working with various schools across the US and Canada to open up their schools to students who learn differently and build disability inclusive orchestras. All of this made possible by you and your dedication to learning music! In the future, I dream of expanding the Note4Note buy-one, give-one to violas and cellos.
